On September 11, 2026, at approximately 8:40 p.m., deputies with the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported vehicle accident near Highway 63 and Cedar Wapsi Road.
The investigation determined that a Chevrolet Impala was traveling eastbound on West Cedar Wapsi Road before turning northbound onto Highway 63. After turning northbound, the Chevrolet was struck from behind by a Harley-Davidson Trike.
The driver of the Chevrolet was not injured. The driver of the Harley-Davidson was transported by ambulance to Unity Point Allen Hospital in Waterloo and was later flown to the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City with life-threatening injuries.
The accident remains under investigation by the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office. No fault has been assigned to either party at this time.
