On July 4, 2026 at 7:10 p.m., the Black Hawk County Dispatch Center received a 911 call about a single vehicle accident in the 8000 Block of Ansborough Ave. Black Hawk County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to the scene. It was reported that the vehicle was traveling south on Ansborough Ave when a passenger of the vehicle fell out of the vehicle, onto the roadway. The vehicle was a silver 2019 Toyota Camry sedan. The passenger that fell from the vehicle was identified as Tejanna Hatt (22) of Waterloo, IA. Hatt was transported to MercyOne Hospital by ambulance where she was later pronounced deceased.

The Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol and the Hudson Fire Department and Ambulance. This is in an ongoing investigation and anyone who has information regarding the incident can call the Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office at 319-291-2587.
