On September 15, 2026, at approximately 0706 hours, Black Hawk County Deputies were dispatched to the intersection of West Dunkerton Road and Wagner Road for a two vehicle collision. A silver Chevy Equinox, driven by Josther Valentin of Waterloo, was driving east on Dunkerton Road when he failed to stop at the stop sign. Heading south on Wagner Road was a white Dodge Ram 2500 pickup pulling a trailer. The pickup was being driven by Michael Stirling of Allison when he collided with the Equinox in the intersection. Valentin was cited for failure to obey a stop sign. Valentin was transported to a local hospital by an ambulance where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. Stirling was driven to a local hospital by private vehicle for a precautionary evaluation with no known injuries at this time.

The Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Dunkerton Police Department, Black Hawk County Consolidated Communication Center, Bremer County Consolidated Communication Center, and Denver Fire Department.
