Minor Injuries in Crash on N. Union Road
On December 5, 2021, at approximately 2:04 p.m., the Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office responded to a motor vehicle accident involving two vehicles at the intersection of Mark Rd and N Union Rd. A Lincoln Navigator occupied by the driver, Molly Schmidt, and passengers, Keith Schmidt and a minor child, of Cedar Falls, were southbound on N Union Rd when it stopped to wait for oncoming traffic before making a left turn. A Toyota Tundra occupied by the driver, Darrel Rizer, and passenger Carleigh Rizer of Denver was traveling southbound on N Union and rear-ended the Lincoln Navigator. All occupants were suspected to sustain minor injuries, assessed by emergency personnel, and were not transported to any hospitals. Darrel Rizer was cited for Failure to Stop in Assured Clear Distance. The Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Cedar Falls Fire Department and the Mercy One Ambulance Service.
