The 2023 Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office Annual Report is complete and now released to the public. Sheriff Thompson is generally pleased with the overall results of crime statistics and the productivity indicators of his agency. “Overall, calls for service are up, but crime is down. Our patrol and civil staff has really increased their impact, self-initiated activities and their overall ability to detect crime and criminals before they affect more victims.”
“Our jail continues to hold and book more and younger inmates on violent offenses and our bookings and population continues to rise as a result. We are also forced to handle more juvenile cases and our jail transports demonstrate those increases as well.” says Thompson of the jail’s statistics.
