Beginning November 1st , and running through the end of the month of December, deputies and sheriff’s office employees will be sporting a new look to support a local worthy cause. In observance of the No-Shave November movement seen across the nation, the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office will allow employees to “violate” policy and go neatly trimmed, but unshaven for these two months to raise money for the Family and Children’s Council of Black Hawk County, Inc. Female employees not on patrol will also be able to work in jeans instead of uniform pants.

“We continue to challenge our staff to find worthy causes to support with this unique effort and this year, our employees recommended the Family and Children’s Council of Black Hawk County.” says Sheriff Tony Thompson. “Their mission to strengthen families and educate our community in the prevention of child abuse dovetails perfectly into our enforcement and protection efforts here at the sheriff’s office. I appreciate our professional relationship with FCC and look forward to providing funds to support their efforts by going scruffy this next couple of months.” For more information about FCC, go to: https://keepthekidssafe.org
