This month we remember Waterloo Police Officers Michael Hoing and Wayne Rice that were killed in the line of duty in 1981. As well as Black Hawk County Sergeant William Mullikin that was killed in a vehicle accident during the search for the murder suspect. Their service and sacrifice are not forgotten.

Beginning February 1st, 2015, the Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office implemented an Online Weapons Permit System, and no longer accepts paper applications. You can access this website at the link below to begin the application process. Additional computer kiosks are available in the Sheriff's Office Lobby if you wish to apply in person, or have any questions.

Since Sheriff Thompson was elected in 2008 and in every month since, he has hosted a community meeting somewhere in the county.  The locations move each month to a different community, in order to provide a transparent look at the Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office, allow the community to voice concerns, and spotlight programs and services offered by the Sheriff's Office. Everyone is welcome to attend!
